March National Health Observances: Colorectal Cancer, Kidney Disease, Nutrition, and Tuberculosis

In March we’re raising awareness about colorectal cancer, kidney disease, nutrition, and tuberculosis.

To make it easy for you to help spread the word, we’ve pulled together some resources below that you can use to promote these NHOs. We hope you’ll join the conversation and help us advocate for good health nationwide!

National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Each March the Prevent Cancer Foundation sponsors National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month to spread the word about colorectal cancer prevention. Use our easy-to-understand MyHealthfinder resources to encourage people to get tested for colorectal cancer — and to find out which test they might prefer. And if you’re interested in national efforts to reduce new cases of cancer and cancer-related deaths, check out the Healthy People 2030 Cancer objectives.

National Kidney Month

The National Kidney Foundation sponsors National Kidney Month in March to promote kidney disease awareness, prevention, and treatment. Join the conversation by using the resources in this promotional toolkit from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). And be sure to check out the Healthy People 2030 Chronic Kidney Disease topic for information on national objectives aimed at reducing chronic kidney disease and related complications.

National Nutrition Month®

Sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, National Nutrition Month® is a time to help people develop healthy eating habits. For the latest guidance on healthy eating, check out the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020–2025 — and share the related consumer resources with your community. You can also share our MyHealthfinder nutrition resources to encourage people to make healthy choices. And don’t forget to explore the Healthy People 2030 nutrition-related objectives.

World Tuberculosis Day

Every year the World Health Organization sponsors World Tuberculosis Day on March 24 to raise awareness about the health, social, and economic effects of tuberculosis. Join the conversation using the resources in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) digital media toolkit. You can also share our MyHealthfinder resource on latent tuberculosis to encourage people to talk to their doctor about getting tested. And check out the Healthy People 2030 Infectious Disease topic to learn about national efforts to reduce cases of diseases like tuberculosis.
